NISSAN D21 Engine And Engine Cooling Exhaust System problems : 1.

Right Side Of Exhaust Manifold Leaking. Two Studs Broken Off. Checked Right Side And Found One Broken Stud, Not Leaking Yet. I Talked With Two Dealers, A Parts Distributor, And A Owner Of A 1989 Pathfinder (same engine) And They All Confirmed That This Was A Typical Problem With This engine. I Had The Exhauset Gaskets And Studs Replaced On Both Sides. ($ 856.75) This Vehicle Has Been Very Well Maintained And There Is No Reason Why The Exhaust Studs Should Be Failing At Only 70,000+ Miles. The Service Writer Informed Me That They Replaced The Studs With “new & Improved” Studs. This Would Indicate To Me That The Original Design Was Faulty. Neither Dealer Contacted Mentioned Any Factory Assistance Available. There Is A Service Bulletin Out On This Item ((fc0009202)
