After Getting Gas I Started My 2005 nissan frontier And As I Entered Back On The Highway The Engine Immediately Stalled. The “service Engine” Light And The 4wd Warning Light Came On. After Rolling About 50 Ft It Started Running Normally Again. I Visited My nissan Dealer On 9/10/09 And They Could Not Find Anything Wrong. That Afternoon After Getting Gas It Stalled After Starting It Again With The Same Warning Lights On. I Could Not Restart It. This Time It Had To Be Towed To The Dealer. They Found That An Engine Electronic Module Had Failed But Was On Nationwide Back-order And Did Not Know When It Would Be Replaced. I Was Told It Was A Large Problem In 2006, 2007 And Some In 2008 nissan frontier And Titan Trucks. If This Item Is In Nationwide Back-order It Must Be A Major Problem And A Dangerous One If A Vehicle’s Engine Stalls While In Operation On Roads And Highways. *tr

Serious Safety Issue: At A Very Busy California Intersection, My Vehicle Simply Quit Running, At Which Point I Was Able To Re Start Said Vehicle And “limp” It To A Safe Area, Luckily I Might Add. I Had Vehicle Towed To A Service Facility Where The Mechanic Found A Lose Battery Connection In Which He Thought He Solved The Mechanical Problem. The Next Day Traveling Down Hwy 50 In The Sierra Mountains At 65 Mph The Vehicle Stopped Running Again And I Was Lucky Enough To Have An Exit Nearby That I Safely Coasted The Dead Vehicle Into. Had Vehicle Towed To A Different Mechanic. He Found A Faulty Ipdm ( Intelligent Power Distribution Module ). Upon His Research And Mine, This Is An Ongoing Problem In Which nissan Is Not Responding To. It Should Be Safety Issue And Be Recalled By nissan And The Repair Should Be Performed At No Charge From A nissan Dealership. If You Were To Google : “ipdm Problem nissan ” You Will Find Further Data. Please Review, And Thanks For Listening….*tr

I Had To Pay The Dealer An 89.95 Diagnostic Fee To Confirm What They Already Told Me And Then Pay 470.00 Additional In Part And Labor Fees. nissan Consumer Affairs Was Unresponsive And Denies They Have A Problem With The 2005 Model Even Though I Presented Them With A Factory Service Bulletin I Obtained That Clearly Identifies The Problem For The 2005 Model Year And Tells The Dealer What To Do, What To Replace And Allows Them To Claim For Reimbursement For The Part From nissan. The Computer Read That The Sensors Were Bad. I Replaced All The Sensors Myself And Still Have The Same Problem. I Have Been Reading Online That This Is A Big Issue With frontiers. It’s Definitely A Safety Hazard And Causes Problems When Trying To Get The Truck To Pass Inspection. There Needs To Be A Warning When An Issue Like This Is Happening For Consumers. *tr

While Traveling On The #1 Lane At Approximately 70mph On The 60 East Freeway Close To The Intersection Of The 57 North Freeway Connector, I Lost Full Power And Was Forced To Make An Emergency Exit Narrowly Missing Several Trucks And Cars In The Process. After Limping Home And Letting The Vehicle Sit For A Few Days, I Took The Truck To Puente Hills nissan Complaining That I Lose Power Once The Transmission Comes To Temperature And That I Needed Them To Asses The Damage At A Cost To Me Of $130. Their Evaluation Eventually Concluded That The Radiator Had Ruptured Causing Coolant To Leak Into The Transmission Thereby Damaging It Beyond Repair. They Quoted Me Approximately $4,500 For The Repair Which Mainly Included Labor, Tax, A Replacement Transmission, A New Radiator, And All Necessary Hoses And Parts. On July 5th, 2013 My Wife Was On Highway I45 In North Direction And After Fm1960 The Vehicle Engine Hesitated And Died. She Was Able To Safely Pull The Truck From First Line On Left To The Last On Right ( Highway With Total 4 Lines Maybe). And Then To The Emergency Line . Brakes And Steering Control Became Harder Than Normal And She Was Scared Of Losing Control Of Vehicle. Some Body Else Picked Me Up At Herman Memorial Hospital At The Woodlands And We Went To Meet Her. We Tried Several Times And The Engine Cranked But No Start. My Final Diagnostic Was Probable She Ran Out Of Gas Even When The Fuel Gauge Was Showing Almost Half Tank. We Went To Get One Gallon To The Gas Station, Poured On The Truck And At The Second Try It Started. In The Way Back We Filled The Fuel Tank . The Fuel Gun At Gas Station Stopped Automatically But The Gauge Indicated Less Than Half Tank. This Was A Scary Experience That Could Result In A Serious Accident With Also Serious Consequences. I Called Today July 6, 2013 To nissan Service At Tom Peackock In I45 And They Checked My Vin # Saying That No Warranty Applies To Fix It. They Said Nobody Was Able At The Moment To Check The Price Of Fuel Sending Unit Which Suspected Be Faulty. An Estimate Of Cost Of Repair Is Around $600 , The Person On The Phone Said. I Will Call Back This Coming Monday To Re-verify This Issue And The Part Availability. I Submit This Because I Consider It A Safety To Customer And Other People Issue . I Have Read About Recalls On This Item But nissan Answer Was A Negative Or Denied Request To Proceed As A Recall Issue. The Fuel Gauge Is Not Reliable And I Think Is Not An Option To Have It Operative In Any Vehicle. *tr

While Driving The Vehicle Loss Power And Almost Stalled. This Happened A Couple Of Times While Driving On The Highway, Approx. 50mph. The Second Time It Happened, The Ses Light And Slip Light Came On. This Vehicle Was Covered By A Recall For The Ecm That Caused A Similar Issue. The Ecm Was Replaced By A Certified nissan Service Center. The Replacement Was Done 12/29/10. Now, It Is Happening Again. A Bit Of Research Shows That nissan Has Issued A Voluntary Recall For Camshaft Sensors That Cause A Very Similar Problem. However, Because My Vin Is Not Currently Under That Recall, I Can’t Have nissan Replace Them. This Is A Safety Issue. The Vehicle Looses Power Then Stalls While Traveling In Heavy Traffic At 50-60 Mph. That Can Cause A Major Accident And Affect Not Only Myself But Others. I Feel nissan Should Expand Their Recall To Include nissan frontiers, Not Just Altima, Etc. nissan Has Been Contacted And They Have Opened A Case File #[xxx]. No Resolution Has Been Offered By Them. Information Redacted Pursuant To The Freedom Of Information Act (foia), 5 U.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While Driving Down The Road At 40mph My frontier Suddenly Cut Off , Had No Brakes Or Power Steering. I Went Off The Road And Hit Some Trees. My Insurance Fixed My Truck, Even After I Told Them And The Body Shop I Wanted It Checked Out First. I Took It To The Dealership And Was Told There Was A Recall With A Defective Ecm Relay. They Also Informed Me My Radiator And Transmission Had A Problem With The Coolant Leaking Into The Transmission. nissan Said I Was Out Of Warranty And Did Nothing To Help But Replace The Part That Caused My Accident. The Leak/ Ruptured Part Seems Like It Was From The Accident But My Insurance And nissan Both Are Leaving Me Out On My Own. *tr

Passing Other Vehicle On I-45 Towards Downtown At Approximately 70 Mph The Engine Experienced Intermittent Stalling. I Was In Danger To Crash Others With Problems To Get Our Of The High Speed Lines. At That Moment The Engine Totally Stalled ,. Finally I Was Able To Reach The Extreme Right Line And Pull Out Waiting For A Complete Stop. I Tried To Restart The Engine But No Help. I Did Not Believe It But Wanted Be Sure That No Lack Of Fuel Was The Origin Because I Already Had The Problem With Fuel Sending Unit Problem Which Do Not Work Properly To Accurately Show How Much Fuel Is On The Fuel Tank. I Got Some Extra Fuel. We Returned And Poured The 1 Gallon Can , Then I Tried To Star The Engine. It Cranked But No Starting. I Called My Insurance Requesting Towing Service . I Tried Two More Times And After That The Engine Started Roughly And Hesitating. After 2 Minutes And Stabilized I Decided To Continue. I Called My Insurance Company To Cancel The Towing Service . Decided To Continue On I-45 But On The Extreme Right Hand Side Line. I Arrived Home With No Other Issues And After Parking On My Driveway, Shut Down The Engine, Then I Tried To Restart It But Nothing . Only Cranking Good But No Starting At All. Finally After Some Like 10 Seconds Of Cranking, The Engine Hesitated But Started. I Took It To Autozone , They Scanned It And Gave Me The Codes P043 For The Failed Fuel Sendin Unit ( Fuel Level Sensor ) And The Code P0335 Which Is Problem With The Circuit Or Signal Or Sensor Crankshaft. I Made Search To Find It And Today, Sunday 29, After Several Hours, Finally Removed And Replaced It. After This The Truck Starts Very Good As Usually Before The Stalling Experiences. Cost Was Some Like 23 Dollar But The Risk In What I Was And Exposing Others Has No Price. Is Necessary To Have A Crash Or Fatal Results For You To Consider This A Recall To Protect Others? *tr

Last Month It Began Shutting Down On Me Every 2 Days, A Few Times On The Highway, Almost Getting Rear Ended A Couple Of Times. It Would Turn Back On, But After Several Tries And After 15-20 Min Wait. This Relay Was Replaced And Vehicle Had Been Running Fine For 3 Weeks, But My Vehicle Has Now Started To Sputter Every Few Days. It Has Shutdown On Me Twice In The Last Couple Of Weeks. *tr
