I Have A 2005 nissan frontier. During The Recent Cold Mornings I Have Noticed A Buzzing/whinning Noise When I Started My Truck. I Took The Vehicle Into The Dealership And Later Found Out I Needed A New Timing Chain. This Was A Huge Surprise Since I Followed All Of The Maintenance Requirements And Only Have 59,000 Miles. I Also Found Out That This Is A Known Problem With My Model Year And Unfortunately I Was Less Than 20 Days Outside Of My Warranty Period And nissan Would Not Pick Up The Cost Which Were Estimate To Be $1,300. I Called nissan Corporate To See If They Would Still Honor The Warranty Since It Was A Known Problem, However, They Said They Were Strict With Their Warranties And Since I Was Technically Outside Of The Warranty They Would Not Pick Up The Costs Or Help Out. The Service I Received Was Terrible And After Doing Some Research It Sounds Like There Are Many Other People Out There That Have Had Some Same Issue With The Model Year Vehicle I Have. All nissan Told Me I Could Do Was Save My Receipts Incase There Was A Recall In The Future. *tr

The Contact Owns A 2005 nissan frontier. The Contact Stated That The Vehicle Began Vibrating Extremely Hard As It Overheated. The Contact Checked The Fluids In The Vehicle And Found That The Coolant, Oil And Transmission Fluids Were Mixed Together In The Transmission. The Vehicle Had Not Been Inspected But The Contact Believed That The Seals Fractured On The Engine When The Vehicle Overheated, Allowing Coolant To Enter The Transmission. The Failure And Current Mileage Was 71,000.

I Drove The frontier To Work That Morning, Then In The Afternoon I Began My 62 Mile Commute Home. I Came To A Stop At A Traffic Light And Then When I Began To Drive Again The Engine Would Rev High And Accelerate Slowly. I Made It To A Service Station Where The Code P1754 Was Read On The Onboard Computer. I Was Told By The Service Station That It Needed To Be Looked At, Since He Didn’t See Any Mechanical Issues. The Code Was Cleared And I Was Able To Drive It Home. The Next Morning Thinking The Problem May Have Been A Glitch In The Computer I Attempted To Drive It Down The Road, Approximately 2 Miles Into The Drive A Violent Jerk Of The Truck And I Could Not Accelerate, It Was As Though The Vehicle Was In Neutral. I Made It Home And Had The Vehicle Towed To The Dealer I Bought It From In 2007. They Informed Me That The Transmission Cooler Had Cracked And Cross Contaminated The Radiator And Transmission Fluids And It Would Be A 6300.00 Dollar Repair. I Contacted nissan After Reading Online About Multiple Issues With This And They Said That They Had Sent A Letter Out In December Notifying Owners Of The Issue. The Letter Stated That The Warranty Had Been Extended To 80,000 Miles. Due To The Fact That Neither The Dealer Nor nissan Had Taken The Time To Update The Vehicles Info Showing My Ownership, I Never Received A Letter And Am Beyond The 80,000 Miles As Are Many Of The Other Owners Experiencing This Issue. nissan Admits That The Transmission Cooler Is Suffering Catastrophic Failure In The Transmission And Radiators, But Only On The Phone. When You Let Them Know That The Transmission Fails While On The Highway In The Middle Of Traffic, They Only Offer What Seems To Be The Typical “i Am Sorry.” This Problem Needs To Be Corrected And Not At The Owners Expense, Since It Is A Faulty Transmission Cooler That Was Used That Caused All Of The Damage. *tr

The Transmission Cooler Built Into The Radiator Failed Causing Coolant And Transmission Fluid To Cross Contaminate And Cause Possible Overheat Of Motor And Failure Of Transmission. Tried Contacting nissan North America About Help Fixing It But They Refuse To Do Anything About It Because It Is Out Of Warranty. Getting The Radiator And Transmission Replaced Will Cost About $5,000. *tt

They Went On Selling Cars Like Normal And Choose To Leave There Past Consumers In The Dust. Not Working With Or Caring About Us. On 1 Nov 2001 I Was Coming Back From Ajo Az. When My Engine Overheated As I Was Trying To Pass A Vehicle. About Even With The Other Vehicle Transmission Started Slipping And I Noticed That The Engine Was Over Heating. I Let Off The Gas And Stopped As Soon As I Could And Was Almost Rear Ended.after Stopping I Discovered No Water In Radiator.i Filled It From A 5 Gallon Can Of Water And Made It To A Gas Station.the Mechanic On Duty Told Me That The Radiator Failed Internally And That I Had Water And Antifreeze In The Transmission.mechanic Told Me That He Had Several Pathfinders And A Few frontiers With The Same Problem. I Got On Line And Found Hundreds Of People With nissans Had The Same Complaint. I Called The nissan Dealer And They Said That That Was Not The Case That They Would Replace The Radiator And Flush The Transmission And It Would Be Good To Go. On Line Peoples Complaints That I Found Said They Were Told The Same And The Transmissions Still Failed. Can I Expect A Recall To Fix This Problem?the Waranty Was Up At 98,000 Miles. *tr

Stopped Using The Od And It Seemed Ok Until Yesterday. Checked Coolant For Transmission Fluid Like Everyone Else With The Same Problem And There It Was. This Is Very Obviously A Manufacturers Defect With So Many People Having The Same Trouble. *tr

Dec 20, 2011

My 2005 frontier Started Stuttering And Not Accelerating As Normal. I Was Trying To Get Onto The Freeway And My Truck Would Not Go Past About 45 Mph. I Got Off The Freeway And Took Side Roads Back Home. After Numerous Phone Calls To nissan To Try To Fix This Problem I Looked Online And Found Out That The Most Common Problem With This Vehicle Is Transmission Fluid Mixing With Coolant From The Radiator And Causing The Transmission To Fail. I Took My Truck To A nissan Dealership Where They Told Me There Wasn’t A Problem With My Transmission Fluid And It Was Fine. I Then Took My Truck To Another Mechanic Who Told Me The Problem Was The Mixing Of The Two Fluids. This Problem Could Have Potentially Caused An Accident On The Freeway, As My Truck’s Maximum Speed Was 20 Mph Less That The Speed Limit, And My Truck Could Have Potentially Stopped All Together. I’m Just Glad None Of That Happened, But I’m Sure Someone Else Is Not Going To Be So Lucky. *tr

Experienced Vibrations In The Suspension At Approximately 55mph. Over The Next Couple Of Months, The Vibrations Became Progressively Worse. I Took The Truck To The nissan Dealer For Repairs. I Was Told This Was A Transmission Failure Caused By A Design Problem Where The Radiator Fluid Over Time Contaminates The Transmission Fluid. The nissan Dealer Stated The Repairs Called For Complete Replacement Of The Transmission And Radiator. The Repairs Were Done At A Cost Of $5,375.28. Since This Transmission And Radiator Failure Was Caused By A Design Problem, I Contacted nissan Consumer Affairs To Request That They Compensate Me For The Cost Of Repairs. They Refused To Cover The Cost Of Repairs, Stating That The Warranty Period Had Expired. *tr

nissan Has A Know Radiator Problem. Internal Leakage Into The Transmission Cooler. Causes Catastrophic Transmission Failure. Pulling Away From Stop Sign. Transmission Shifted Hard Twice. Then Had No Forward Motion, Engine Would Rev Up, But Not Move The Vehical. Truck Has 100,000 Mile nissan Extended powertrain Warranty. Was First Told By The Dealer. 100% Covered. Less Than An Hour Later, Was Told Not Covered. Cost $5000 Plus. Contacted nissan Customer Service. Gabby At nissan Siad They Would Look Into It. Took A Week For Them To Finally Call Back. They Asked Me To Cover $2000. They Would Not Cover The Whole Bill, Even Though It Is A Known Defect. And The Truck Has The Extended Warranty. I Paid $2192.43 To Have The Transmission And Defective Radiator Replaced. Asked If The Radiator Was An Updated Part. Waiting On A Call To Find Out If It Is A Better Radiator Or Just A New One With The Same Defect. Right Now. Its A Ticking Time Bomb, If The Failure Occured In Traffic On An Interstate, A Major Crash Could Have Happened. *tr

I Notice There Was A Milky Substance In The Radiator Of My Truck. After Doing Some Research On Line It Looks Like A Lot Of nissan frontier Owners Have The Same Problem. I Called Two nissan Dealers Near My House (garden Grove And Costa Mesa) And They Are Well Aware Of This Problem. I Also Called About Seven Independent Transmission Repair Shops And Most Of Them Are Aware Of This Problem. nissan Dealers Say They Would Charge Me Around $7000 To Make The Repairs. The Independent Shops Said They Would Charge Me Anywhere From $2000 To $3500 To Rebuilt The Transmission. I Cannot Afford To Have My Truck Fixed At This Time And Am Looking To Make nissan Usa Responsible For This. I Called nissan And They Said I Need To Have The Truck Inspected At The nissan Dealer And The Chances Of Them Taking Liability For A Faulty Radiator Are Slim. My Truck Has A Little Over 107,000 Miles On It Which Is Over The 80,000/8 Year Warranty. I Would Like To Make Others That Are Facing The Same Situation Aware Of nissan‘s Negligence. nissan As Lost A Customer And Many Others As I Am Working Hard To Let As Many People As I Can Avoid Making A nissan Purchase. If nissan Does Not Take Responsibility For This I Will Be Looking For Others Like Me To Boycott nissan Automobiles! *tr

This Problem Is In The Automatic Transmission. Due To nissan Producing A Faulty And Very Poorly Engineered Cooling System For The 2005 nissan frontier, Pathfinder, And Xterra Automatic Transmissions They Eventually Get Contaminated With Radiator Coolant And Makes The Transmission Slip And Clunk During Shifting. Mine Slips From 2nd Into Third And When I Accelerate In Any Gear. There Is No power Unless I Baby It Along. This Has Been Hazardous Twice Now When Entering The Freeway And Changing Lanes. A Semi-truck Was In The Lane I Needed To Get Into And I Could Not Accelerate Enough To Merge Properly. nissan Refuses To Admit The Problem Is Theirs Even Though The Consumer Complaints Are Numerous. If You Are Not Already Aware Of This Just Go Online And You Will Find Horror Stories From People With The Same Problem. *tr

The Problem Began With A Growling Noise Accompanied By A Shuddering Sensation. I Had The Problem Diagnosed At The Dealership As Transmission Fluid Contamination. They Advised Me To Take The Vehicle Out Of Service For Repairs At An Estimated Cost Of $6500. I Could Not Afford This So I Had My Local Asme Certified Mechanic Replace The Radiator And power Flush The Transmission At A Cost Of $900. The Problem Persists And I Expect A Catastrophic Transmission Failure At Any Time. *tr

Was Traveling At 55mph In My 2005 nissan frontier When It Was As If The Transmission Was Put In Neutral. Had To Stop In The Highway, Nowhere To Pull Off. As Luck Would Have It Was Near My Destination And Managed To Get There Going About 10 To 15mph. It Was At Night So Luckily Not Much Traffic When It Occurred. Towed To Dealership Next Day And Was Told The Radiator Failed And Coolant Was Allowed To Enter Transmission Thus Also Causing Transmission Failure. Vehicle Had Exceeded The 80,000 Mile Warranty But Also Found Out That Warranty Had Been Extended From The Original 36,000 Mile Warranty Because Of Problems. Only The Radiator And Transmission Were Issued The 80,000 Extended Warranty, But My Vehicle Had 95,994 Miles Thus No Warranty Coverage, And Repair Cost Would Run $6,900.00. Contacted nissan Consumer Affairs But Was Denied Reimbursement. Although Dealership Worked With Me And Got The Price Down To $4,800.00 This Is A Major Expense To Me On A Vehicle That Should Have Been Taken Care Of By The nissan Corp., Due To The Large Number Of Complaints About This Exact Problem On Vehicles With More Than 80,000 Miles. Have Yet To Find Any Consumer That Has Been Compensated For This Problem. *tr

Stopped On Hill Behind Another Vehicle, They Took Off, I Tried To Pull Up To Stop Sign But Had No Forward Movement. Luckily No One Was Behind Me So I Backed Down To A Driveway To Get Out Of The Road. I Had Reverse At This Time. After Trying To Figure Out What Happened, I Put Truck Into Gear And Drove The Five Miles To Work. Service Engine Soon Light Came On. Left Work And Had No Problems Until My Driveway, Steep Incline And Again No Forward Movement. No Reverse This Time. Had It Towed To Transmission Shop And They Have Diagnosed That The Radiator Fluid Was Leaking Into The Transmission. Surprise! I Did Not Receive A Letter From nissan Last Year. They Should Recall And Pay For All The Charges. They Know There Is A Problem And Don’t Want To Own Up To Their Failure To Provide A Safe Vehicle. Hope The Nhtsa Looks Into The Problems With The nissan Vehicles. I Was Happy I Wasn’t On An Inter-state. No Indication Of A Problem Until I Had No Forward Movement! Very Dangerous For Everyone On The Road! *tr

While Driving My frontier, The Transmission Starting Making Noise. It Started Slipping When I Was Taking Off, After Having Stopped For A Red Light. Then The Service Light And Indicator Lights Came On. I Could Tell That 2nd Gear Was Gone. The Truck Was Towed To A Certified nissan Dealer. They Informed Me That The Truck Was Not Covered Under Warranty And Gave Me A $5190 Estimate. This Does Not Include The $300 For The Rental I Have Had To Get For This First Week, Or The $101 For The Towing And Diagnostic Testing. I Have Since Discovered That The Coolant Was Leaked Into The Transmission And Has Caused It To Fail. I Have Also Learned That Hundreds, If Not Thousands, Have Registered Complaints That This Was Due To A Radiator Failure That Was Known By nissan. I Did Not Receive A Recall Notice Or Any Other Notification Concerning This Problem. I Called nissan Consumer Affairs And Received A Case Number. After 24 Hrs. They Called To Tell Me That They Had Extended The Warranties On The Radiators Up To 8 Yrs. And 80,000 Miles, But That They Would Not Be Able To Help Me With My Case. I Have Since Found Out Online That nissan Did Not Issue Recalls On This. My Truck Had Been Properly Serviced At My nissan Dealership, And Both The Radiator And Transmission Was Flushed At 30,000 And 60,000 Miles. The power-steering Was Also Flushed At 60,000 Miles. I Believe My Dealership Should Have Made Me Aware Of The Problem When My Truck Was In For Servicing, And Then I Could Have Had The Radiator Taken Care Of Under The Warranty Period Before All The Transmission Damage Was Done. And nissan Should Have Issued A Safety Recall, As My Truck Stopped At 35 Mph; And Was Almost Rear Ended. I Would Have Normally Been On The Highway, Except Once The Noise Started, I Decided To Take An Alternate Route In Order To Get My Vehicle To A Safe Area. nissan Should Have To Pay For This Period! *tr

I Took My frontier Truck In For A 120000 Mile Schedule Maintenance Check And Oil Change. The Deal Told Me That The Radiator Coolant And Transmission Fluid Had Mixed Together Due To A Problem With The Radiator. I Was Told That They Would Flush The Radiator And Transmission And Try To Clean Out Most Of The Mixed Fluid. I Was Informed That I Need To Replace The Radiator And Transmission Might Have To Be Also Replaced. The Cost For The Replacement Would Be Around $8400. I Began To Do Some Research Into The Problem And Found Out That nissan Know That There Was A Problem With The Radiator And That The Fluid Could Leak Into The Transmission And Damage The Transmission. I Saw That nissan Would Extend The Warrant To Cover The Cost If You Had Less That 8 Years And 80000 Miles. This Warrant Would Now Help Me, Due Tot The Fact I Have Almost 119000 Miles On My Truck. I Think If nissan Knew About This Problem They Would Have A Recall On All frontiers, Pathfinders And Xterras From 2005-2010 And Pay For Them To Be Fixed . It Will Cost Me Over $6000 To Have A New Transmission Put Into My frontier Truck. My Truck Is A 2005 frontier Le. I Am Having The Radiator Assy Replaced ($991.84) Oil Cooler Assy Replaced ($498.49) Transmission And Cooling System Flushed ($421.52). The 120000 Mile Service A/t Will Cost Me $400. I Am Going To Search Around To See How Much A New Transmission For My Truck Would Cost. The Dealer Said The Cost For Replacing My Transmission Would Be $6155.14. They Would Sell Me The Transmission For Their Cost Which Would Save Me $925. I Think That nissan Should A Lease Help Pay For Half Or 2/3 Of The Cost For Me To Get My Truck Fixed. *tr

In The Month Of September, 2012 I Noticed My 2005 nissan frontier Started Stalling Out At Intersections And Red Lights. When I Attempted To Accelerate The Vehicle Would Not Go, I Had To Really Press Down On The Accelerator To Get It Going. So This Continued For About A Week, Then I Began To Hear A Thumping Sound Coming From The Transmission So I Took It To A Local Maintenance Shop And They Ran A Test On It And They Said That The Transmission Was Bad. Then I Took It To Another Shop This Was A Recommended Transmission Shop And They Ran Test On It And They Said They Could Not Figure Out What’s Was Wrong With It. They Recommended That I Take It To An Electrical Shop So I Did. The Electrical Shop Told Me That The Computer Inside The Transmission Was Not Working. I Then Took It To A nissan Dealership And Had Their Service Department Check It Out, The Service Manager Told Me That The Transmission Had Radiator Coolant In It And That It Along With The Radiator Had To Be Replace. The Total Cost Would Be $4800. I Was Devastated And Call nissan Consumer Affairs Office And Reported The Problem To Them. They Told Me That They Would Look Into And Get Back With Me. Two Days Later They Called Me Back And Informed Me That There Was Nothing They Could Do Because The Warranty Had Expired. This Is A Safety Issue Because It Could Cause In Accident If The Vehicle Stalls Out In Traffic. *tr

My Transmission Is Slipping. I Have Been Told By A Dealer I Have Radiator Fluid In My Transmission Fluid. While Driving At A Speed Of 60-65 On The Highway My 2005 nissan frontier Feels Like The Transmission Slips Out Of Gear And Starts To Grind. This Occurs Only Under Acceleration And I Do Not Mean Hard Acceleration. I Am Simply At A Cruising Speed On The Highway And Trying To Simply Maintain A Speed And The Noise Occurs Daily. I Am Not Positive That The Noise Is Coming From The Transmission Because I Am No Mechanic, But The Sound Is A Grinding Sound Which Means It Is A Gear Grinding Somewhere. I Took The Vehicle To A nissan Dealer Three Times And All I Was Told Is That The Transmission Is Okay. I Do Not Have A Service Engine Light On So Maybe That Is The Reason, But I Was Able To Show The Dealer The Noise And Still No Help. All I Wanted When I Bought This Truck Is A Reliable Car And I Do Not Have One. nissan Should Be Held Responsible For Putting Out A Subpar Product. nissan Has A Known Problem With The Radiator And Transmission. The Date Listed Is Merely The Date We Discovered The Issue. Before Jan 31, 2012 We Knew Nothing About This Problem. It Is A Safety Issue. You Don’t Know If This Has Happened To Your Truck Until It Overheats And You Find Out The Fluids Have Mixed. Replace The Radiator. Flush The Fluids (3 Or More Times, Since The Fluid Is Now Like Purple Soft Serve Ice Cream). Then The Real Troubles Begin.. It Slips Out Of Gear While Driving At 70 Mph And The Only Option Is To Pull Over, Turn The Truck Off, Remove The Key, Then Restart The Truck And Hope It Works. This Is Really Dangerous On The Highway At The Higher Speeds But Also Unsafe On The Side Roads Or In Stop And Go Traffic. I Take My Kids To School 3.6 Miles Each Way. I Have To Stop And Restart The Truck At Least 3 Times During The Round Trip. Speed Doesn’t Matter. You Stop At A Red Light And Have Know Idea If It Is Going To Go When You Push The Gas Or Not. Pulling Out Into Traffic Can Be Very Dangerous Since You Have To Go And You Find Out You Can’t. There Have Been Several “warranty Extentions” Issued By nissan On Our Truck That We Were Not Aware Of Until After Making The Repairs On Our Own Dime. There Is A “warrany Extention” For This Issue Due To A Class Action Lawsuit But It Does Nothing For A Lot Of The Owners Since Many Are Over The “extention Mileage”. I Try To Never Drive The Truck On Busy Roads Without Shoulders Or Turn Lanes, I Fear Red Lights And Traffic But Stop Signs Are The Worst… I Never Know If The Transmission Is Going To Work Or Not. All Because A Known Faulty Radiator Cracked And Leaked Fluid Into The Transmission. But, I’m Over The Extended Mileage So I’m Expected To Pay Over $5k To Fix A Known Issue. *tr

My 2005 nissan frontier Began Shifting Hard Noticeably. I Took It To A Trusted Mechanic To Evaluate The Cause And Learned That There Is Contamination In The Transmission Fluid. Coolant From The Radiator Has Leaked Into The Transmission Body, Resulting In Contamination And Corrosion. At This Time The Transmission Still Functions, But Will Not Continue To Do So For Long. This Issue Requires The Replacement Of Both The Radiator And The Transmission With An Estimated Cost Of $3,800. *tr

I Purchased My 2005 nissan frontier At Approx. 95k In February. The Test Drives Were Fine, The Car Sounded And Drove Perfectly Fine For A Few Months. It Recently Began To Start Shifting Roughly . The nissan Dealership I Purchased The Car From Did Something To Cover Up The Issue Which Was Obviously Why They Were Trying To Sell It Before 100k And I Got Burned On It. I Purchased The Truck From Marietta, Ga At Team nissan. I Didn’t Get It Checked Until Now, But Have Since Discovered The Numerous Complaints Of A Recall Related To Radiator Antifreeze Leaking Into The Transmission And Causing Failure Of Both. This Is A Safety Issue And It Really Does Baffle Me That A Whole Generation Of nissan Vehicles From 2005-2010 Have This Issue And That It Could Caused Some Accidents Due To High Speed Transmission Failure. I See This As Being A Safety Issue On The Same Scale As The Toyota Issues Of A Few Years Back. To Have This Be A Limited Warranty Recall Is Disgraceful. You Can Believe nissan Knows Exactly When These Incidents Are Likely To Occur So They Extended Their Coverage Up To That Point And They Fail Thereafter. Not To Mention That The Current Recall Does Not Seem To Include Issues It Causes To The Transmission. My Truck As You Can See Is Out Of The Extended Warranty For The Radiator And Was When I Purchased It. *tr

Suddenly My Truck Appeared To Have No power; Could Not Accelerate Up To Traffic Speed Or Effectively Get Across An Intersection. It Was Scary And Dangerous As This Could Have Easily Caused An Accident. The “service Engine Soon” Light Came On And I Promptly Took My 2005 nissan frontier Nismo V6 To My Local nissan Dealer For Service. I Had Just Had The Full 90k Mile Service With Radiator Flush And No Issues Where Reported To Me. So I Was Shocked When They Told Me That It Needed To Have Both The Radiator And Transmission Replaced Due To “fluids Mixing”. Antifreeze And Water From The Radiator Had Leaked Into The Transmission And Destroyed It. And I Was Further Shocked And Angry That It Would Cost Me $3k Even After nissan‘s “extended Warranty”. (i Don’t Have This Kind Of Money Lying Around To Dump Into My 7+ Year Old Truck, That I Had Bought New In ’05.) This Is A Catastrophic Defect In The Design – Known By The Manufacturer And Should Be Made Right By The Manufacturer. I’ve Found That There Are Hundreds Of Complaints About This Same Issue Across The Internet For Other 2005-2010 frontiers, Pathfinders And Xterras. nissan Needs To Do Their Consumers Right, Or Risk Loosing Loyalty. Up Until Now, I’ve Been Really Happy With My Truck, My Service Dealer And nissan, But Now I’ll Be Looking At Other Brands That Back Their Products And Consumers Better. *tr

Discovery Of An Apparently Known Issue Of Failed Radiator In This Vehicle That Contaminates The Coolant And Transmission Fluid Resulting In Failed Transmission Requiring Replacement Of It As Well As The Radiators. Surprised And Extremely Disappointed To Find This Issue Happening To My Vehicle Which I Purchased New From This Dealer And Loyally Had The Vehicle Serviced And Maintained At The Same Place Of Purchase. This Apparently Is A Known Issue And Yet My Vehicle Was Never Checked For This Problem At Any Of My Maintenance Intervals By The Service Department. The Initial Revealing Of The Problem Was Presented To Me At Full Price Of The Repair. After Expressing My Disappointment In The Findings And The Quality Of The Vehicle To The Service Department I Received A Call Back Stating That I Could Call The Customer Care And Have The Repair Performed With A Co-pay Of $3000 Of The $6400 Quoted Repair. Still Unhappy About What I Was Facing For A Vehicle That Had Not Yet Reached 100k Miles, I Was Left With No Option But To Call And Go With The Offer Of Partial Payment. This Is The Second Major Repair I Have Had To Have, First Being Replacement Of Timing Chain At Approximately 80k Miles At A Cost Of $1500. *tr

Transmission And Radiator/cooling System To Be Replaced Due To Contamination Of Transmission By Radiator Fluid. Routine Maintenance Performed Regularly. At 98,000 Miles Began To Experience Sporadic Vibration When Driving, Was Diagnosed With Above State Issue. I Use The Truck To Commute With My Children Everyday On The Interstate, While I Am Thankful That The Transmission Has Not Stopped Functioning, It Has Put Us At Greater Risk Than Usual With A Compromised Transmission. To Have Both Systems Replaced, I Have Been Given “an Opportunity” To Provide A “co-pay” Of $3000.00. I Paid nissan Once For A Functional And Reliable Transmission And Cooling System, I Resent Having To Pay An Additional $3000.00 For A Design Flaw Made By nissan. As A Consumer, $3000.00 Is The Type Of Money Used As A Down Payment For A New Car, Not What I Expect To Pay As “routine Maintenance” On A Vehicle With Less Than 100,000 Miles On It. My Payment Would Have Been Lower If Mileage Were Lower. It Is My Understanding That The Corrosion Happens Over Time, I’m Not Sure How Much Time It Takes, But I Feel Certain It Was Thousands Of Miles Ago. If I Had Been Made Aware Of The Issue Earlier, I Could Have Addressed It, Possibly With Less Damage To My Vehicle, Less Safety/risk To My Family, And Certainly At Less Cost Regarding The “copay” For Me As The Copay Is Based On Mileage On The Vehicle. The Heater Has Never Blown Warm Air When Idling, Which Is One Of The Few Early Signs Of This Issue From What I Understand. This Indicates To Me That Problem Has Existed For Most Of The Life Of The Truck. *tr

When I Was Driving Down The Road And At About 45 To 50 Mph, My Transmission Went Out Leaving The Truck powerless And Not Being Able To Make It To A Safe Place To Pull Over! I Was Stranded In The Middle Of The Road, Which Was A Death Trap Not Only For Myself But For My Wife Or Daughter As Well. I Began Checking The Fluids And I Discovered The Transmission Fluid Was A Burnt Brown Strawberry Milk Shake Color. I Was Very Confused About The Color Of My Transmission Fluid So I Hopped On Google To Research Problems With frontiers Transmission. I Found List Of Complaints Of The Same Issue I Had Just Experienced. I Immediately Called The Dealership In Gainesville Ga. I Asked The Tech If The Truck Had Any Recalls. The Tech Stated That There Where 2 Recalls. I Asked Him If There Was Any Known Problems With The Radiator And Transmission, And Of Course No Was The Response. I Inquired About The Issues I Discovered. The Tech Then Replied “well nissan Did Extend There Warranty On That Problem”. He Told Me To Call nissan N. America. The nissan Representative Asked All The Questions The Dealership Did And Asked About The Miles. I Replied 101570. The Rep. Stated He Was Sorry I Was Out Of All Extended Warranty Plans. I Asked Him Just Because I Am 1500 Miles Over You Guys Cant Help Me? The Representative Replied That It Was Out Of Their Extended Warranty Window, So He Was Sorry They Can Not Assist Me. Then He Gave Me A Number To The Radiator And Transmission Hot Line. I Replied To Him By Stating, Wow This Is That Big Of A Problem That nissan Specifically Has A Hotline For The Situation? The Representative Just Hang Up. I Then Called The 1877-208-9275 Radiator And Coolant Assist Line. They Where Closed Because Of Martin Luther King Day. My Argument Is Why Has nissan Not Made A Recall About This Safety Issue? *tr

While Just Merging Onto The Brooklyn Queens Expressway In Brooklyn At Aprox 50 Mph With No Previous Warning Signs To Any Vehicle Problem The Transmission Went Out Of Gear Almost Causing A Rear End Collision. Had To Put Hazards On And Coast Across 3 Lanes Since It Was A Left Lane Merge. Vehicle Slowed To Aprox 20 Mph When Transmission Began To Catch Again And Was Able To Exit Bqe To A Safe Location. While Traveling On The #1 Lane At Approximately 70mph On The 60 East Freeway Close To The Intersection Of The 57 North Freeway Connector, I Lost Full power And Was Forced To Make An Emergency Exit Narrowly Missing Several Trucks And Cars In The Process. After Limping Home And Letting The Vehicle Sit For A Few Days, I Took The Truck To Puente Hills nissan Complaining That I Lose power Once The Transmission Comes To Temperature And That I Needed Them To Asses The Damage At A Cost To Me Of $130. Their Evaluation Eventually Concluded That The Radiator Had Ruptured Causing Coolant To Leak Into The Transmission Thereby Damaging It Beyond Repair. They Quoted Me Approximately $4,500 For The Repair Which Mainly Included Labor, Tax, A Replacement Transmission, A New Radiator, And All Necessary Hoses And Parts. I Was Able To Drive The Vehicle But Approximately 1.5 Miles From My Home, I Lost power Once Again And Was Forced To Have The Vehicle Towed The Rest Of The Way. At About 85,000 Miles On The Truck, While Cruising At Around 40 Mph The Gears Dropped And Stuttered. I Brought It To The Dealership And They Documented My Concern And The Incident. They Did A Diagnostic And Only Came Up With A Fuel Gauge Malfunction And Replace It For $475. At 90,000 Miles I Described The Same Concern, Which They Documented, At A Lower Mph And They Flushed/replaced Trans And Radiator Fluid And Replaced The Radiator Itself For $1600. I Am Now Being Told That The Entire Transmission Needs To Be Replaced For Approximately $6000. nissan Has To Do Something About This, It Stands To Reason That The Cause Of The Transmission Malfunction Is Due To Coolant Getting Into A Lubricant. *tr

I Was In The Turning Lane, Needing To Cross The Intersection, Light Turned Got A Flashing Yellow Light , Pressed Gas And Heard A Big Bang, Then The Truck Was Just Stopped In The Middle Of The Lanes With Cars Approaching. Luckily The Approaching Drivers Were Aware Of My Presence And No Vehicles Hit Us. When It Was Ok To Move The Truck, Myself And 2 Other Drivers Helped Push It Clear. After Examining The Vehicle I Noticed Mustard Yellow Substance In The Radiator Overfill And One Of The Guys That Help Push Looked At The Transmission Fluid To Find A Strawberry Milkshake Color Fluid In There. After Being Examined By A Mechanic It Was Determined The Radiator Was Leaking Fluid Into The Transmission. The nissan Dealer Said The Truck Doesn’t Fall Into Any Warranty, So It Will Cost Me 7000 To Fix.so Needless To Say This Situation Could Have Been Extremely Dangerous To Me, My Family And To The Other Drivers If They Hadn’t Been Paying Attention. It’s Sad To Say That nissan Is Letting This Happen To Its Drivers, Over A 100 Dollar Radiator Costing Us Thousands Of Dollars To Fix And How Long Before Someone Is Killed. *tr

$6219.70 For A Remanufactured Transmission Because I’m ~2000 Miles Out Of Their Recently “extended” Warranty. Transmission And Radiator/cooling System Were Recommended To Be Replaced By nissan Today Because Of Contamination Of Transmission Fluid By A (known But Not Recalled) Defective Transmission Cooler Line. At Approximately 98,000k The Truck Began To Experience Vibration With Overdrive Engaged. It Felt Like Driving Over Rumble Strips Also, The Truck Had No Heat When Idling. I Took It To A Qualified Local Mechanic And Had The Radiator Flushed. That Corrected The Heat Issue. It Was Recommended To Take The Truck To A Transmission Shop To Look At The Issue. I Drive The Truck Daily To/from Work And Travel With My 3 Daughters To And From School. My Next Opportunity Was About 6 Weeks Later And I Took It To nissan. There Was A Recent Class Action Suit Regarding This Issue And “an Extension Was Offered Which Would Repair The Issue For $3000.00. This Covered Cars Up To 100k. Because nissan Did Not Diagnose This Issue Until I Was At 102,200 Miles, A Low Level Call Center Denied The Repair. Rather Than Drive The 10,000 Miles Per Year That Is Apparently Acceptable To nissan, I Drive Roughly 12,750. That Extra 35 Miles Per Day Makes It So That I Have To Pay An Additional $3219.70 For Something That I Should Be Paying Nothing For. The Fix For The Issue That Destroyed My Transmission Is Actually A Roughly $500 Repair Or Less Than $100 For A Diy’er. nissan Was Aware Of This Issue And Should Have Issued A Recall Before Their “customers” Transmissions Started Destroying Themselves. *tr

Coming Home From Work The Truck Started To Overheat And The Transmission Started To Skip. I Had To Turn On The Heater To Keep The Truck From Overheating And Then The Transmission Started To Engage And Disengage. The Problem Is That The Antifreeze Is Leaking In To The Transmission. This Is A Known Problem With nissan, But They Are Not Fixing The Problem. I Have Three Children That Are In The Truck With Me. If That Transmission Breaks And Can Cause Major Problems. nissan Needs To Replace The Parts. *tr

The Coolant Is Mixing With The Transmission Fluid. It’s A Known And Widespread Defect Yet nissan Ignores It. We Paid $14,000 For The Truck Less Than A Year Ago, But nissan Has Squeezed Us Out Of Any Rebate Because The Truck Is Over 100,000 Miles. Now We Have To Pay Another $7,000 To Fix It. That’s Wrong. Experienced Sudden Jerking When Traveling At Highway Speeds. The Problem Was Diagnosed As A Failed Transmission Cooler Which Allowed Coolant To Mix With The Transmission Fluid, Causing Internal Damage To The Radiator And Transmission. Prior To This, There Was Nothing Amiss With The Operation Of The Vehicle. Apparently This Is Common And Even Though Several Complaints Have Been Filed To Nhtsa, nissan Still Claims That There Is No Defect. Based On The Number Of Complaints Regarding The Exact Same Issue, Please Consider Issuing A Recall. I Just Bought My Truck In Dec. 2012 With About 81,000 Miles And 4 Months And 2,000 Miles Later, I Am On The Hook For This Defect. *tr

Just Bought An 05′ nissan frontier And Upon Getting Onto A Highway I Sped Up To 55-60mph To Feel A Vibration Like Going Over Speed Bumps And A Loss Of power. It Turns Out That The Intercooler From The Radiator Broke Inside The Transmission Causing A Leak Of Antifreeze Inside The Transmission. Which Caused Something In The Transmission To Breakdown. I Am Not Very Proficient In Car Repair So I Am Not Sure The Exact Part This Causes To Malfunction Inside The Transmission. All I Know Is That I Need A Brand New Transmission And Radiator Which Is Going To Cause $6000.00 At Least. I Also Know That This Is A Widespread Thing And A Lot Of People Are Having This Happen To 05-10 nissan frontiers, Xterras And Pathfinders. This Seems Like A Safety Issues; If I’m On A Highway With My Family And Try To Pass Someone And Experience A Loss Of power To Speed Up To Pass Them I Could Get In A Head On Collision. *tr

My Truck Began Displaying Symptoms Of Catastrophic Transmission Failure. For Example, Gear Slippage And Shuddering As If Rolling Over Rumble Strips. I Took It To A Mechanic And They Found The Coolant Had Transformed Into A Thick Pink Substance. It Was Determined That A Seal Had Failed In The Radiator Causing Coolant To Mix With The Transmission Fluid. This Then Baked Inside The Transmission. We Replaced The Radiator And So Far Have Delayed The Inevitable Replacement Of The Transmission. I Called Local nissan Dealerships And They Know About The Problem But Declined To Offer Significant Information. I Contacted nissan And Because Of Language Barriers, Etc., They Would Not Address My Issue. I Contacted The Bbb And A nissan Representative Eventually Called Me, But In The End Disregarded My Issues With Mock Concern. To Whom It May Concern: I Own A 2005 nissan frontier Se. On Saturday, June 15, 2013 The Vehicle Failed While I Was Approaching An Overpass In A Downpour Of Thunderstorms. It Appeared The Vehicle’s Transmission Failed. I Had To Steer My Vehicle Off The Road As The Transmission Seemed To Have Slipped Into Neutral. Thankfully, No Injury Or Accident Occurred. After Speaking With A nissan Of North American Customer Service Representative, I Had It Towed Into Pat Fisher nissan In Titusville On Monday Morning, June 17th. In The Meantime After Researching On The Internet (www.nissanhelp.com), I Learned nissan Is In Litigation Due To A ‘design Flaw’ In The Radiator; Causing Cross Contamination Of Fluids (radiator To Transmission) Resulting In Major Damage To The Vehicle. This Results In Replacing The Radiator And Having The Engine Flushed ($1097.00); And An Additional Fee ($4524.00) For Replacing The Transmission. After A Class Action Law Suit, nissan Has Agreed To Pay Partial Payment For The Repairs If Your Vehicle Falls Under Their Specific Guidelines (year Of Vehicle And Odometer Reading). Unfortunately, My Vehicle Did Not. My Concern: Since This Malfunction Is A ‘design Flaw’ (told This By A nissan Employee) By The Manufacturer, How Do Customers Get nissan Of North America To Accept Responsibility? There Should Be No Limitations Or Guidelines To Meet. All Vehicles With This Problem Should Be Repaired By nissan Of North America Before Death Or A Serious Accident Occurs. This Is A Safety Issue. The Vehicle Shifts Itself Into Neutral While Engaged In Drive. This Should Be A Safety Recall And The Expense Of Repair Be Reimbursed By nissan Of North America Corporation To The Consumer. Thank You For Your Consideration And Review. I Look Forward To A Response. Sincerely *tr

I Started Noticing My Automatic nissan frontier Having Problems Shifting Gears Around November Of 2012. I Eventually Took The Truck Into A Dealership To Take A Look At It After Receiving Paperwork In Regards To A Lawsuit nissan Is Encountering Due To Radiator Leaks. When I Took The Truck Into The Dealer They Told Me This Did Not Have Anything To Do With Radiator Leak. They Quoted Me 5,000 In Repairs. I Did Not Have The Money To Fix The Problem So I Continued To Drive It Until July 12th It Finally Gave Out. I Was Getting Off Of The Freeway And As I Was Stopping At The Red Light To Get Off Of The Freeway The Truck Started To Feel Like It Was Going To Give And It Started Shaking, It Jerked Suddenly And Almost Caused The Car Behind Me To Crash Into My Bumper, I Put A Little More Gas Into The Truck And Made It Into The Parking Lot Of The Nearest Place Around. As I Was Going To Park It Finally Gave Out For Good. I Called A Local Towing Company And They Took The Car Back My House, I Called Up A Mechanic To Come To The House And Examine The Truck And He Advised Me Of The Radiator Leak, The One The nissan Dealership Denied Having. I Am Very Upset That They Lied To Me As Well As nissan Only Extending The Warranty To 80,000 Miles When Most People Are Experiencing This Problem After That. Three Days After Receiving The Letter From nissan Regarding The “possible” Problem With The Radiator Failing I Was On My Way To Work And My Truck Started To Shudder At About 45mph. I Pulled Off The Road But Could Not See Anything Wrong. I Then Had It Checked Out And Found Out About The Radiator Failing And Damaged The Transmission Resulting In A Total Rebuild! Called nissan And After 3 Weeks Of Back And Forth Talks Of “seeing What We Can Do For You” The End Result Was Sorry Theirs Nothing We Can Do For You! If This Problem Would Of Happen On An Interstate Highway With My Family Along I Hate To Think What Could Have Happened! *tr

Sudden Loss Of power/stalling. Check Engine Light Came On As Well As Anti-slip Light. Took Vehicle Same Day To nissan Dealership. Truck Actually Stalled On The Way To The Dealership However I Was Able To Get It Started Again. Diagnosed The Problem As A Bad Cam Shaft Sensor. Sensor Was Replaced. They Also Mentioned That Transmission Fluid Was Contaminated With Engine Coolant. Suggested Repair Was To Replace The Radiator And The Transmission-$4800. I Chose To Just Replace The Cam Sensor. Three Days Later, 8/9, Lost power At Highway Speed. Radiator And Hoses Leaked And Had To Be Towed To Dealership. Again Dealership Suggested Replacing The Radiator As Well As The Transmission. Replaced Radiator And Hoses, Flushed Transmission Twice. I Plan To Dispose The Truck. There Were No Warning Signs Prior To These Two Incidents. My Opinion Is That This Is Definitely A Manufacturing/engineering Defect. *tr

The Truck Lurched Ahead While At A Stop Light, Just Missing A Pedestrian. Took The Car To The nissan Dealership Today. Was Told That Coolant From A Cracked Radiator Had Ruined The Transmission And Repair Would Be $5700.00. Car Was In Perfect Condition And Always Dealer Maintained. Dealership Said They Could Do Nothing As Far As Warranty. They Gave Me nissan North America’s Number. They Refused To Do Anything. This Is A Defect. Not A Worn Out Part. My Truck First Started Shuddering On Acceleration In 2011 At 68,000 Miles. I Checked It Out And Found Foamy Coolant And Strawberry Like Milk Shake In My Transmission. Since It Was Out Of Warranty I Tried To Save It By Changing The Fluid And Doing The Bypass Which Worked For A While. Soon After I Received A Notice That They Extended The Warranty On This Issue (making It Within Warranty). I Then Took It To The nissan Dealer To Have Them Check It Out, They Said They Checked The Pressure On The Radiator And Said Everything Was Fine. Now 2 Years Later At 100,000 Miles My Truck Can’t Shift Into Overdrive. This Is Very Upsetting And I Feel You Guys Should Be Responsible For Fixing This Problem. All These Vehicles Should Be Recalled!*jb

At The Time Of The Transmission Failure I Had No Prior Signs Of A Problem. As I Was Merging On To The 4 Lane At A Speed Of About 45-50 Mph The Truck Began Shaking Violently. I Thought I Had Gotten Some Bad Fuel Because I Had Just Filled The Fuel. The Shaking Somewhat Smoothed Out At About 60 Mph, Though The Truck Was Lacking Normal power, And Would Shudder When Pulling A Grade. I Drove The Truck About 10 Miles And Stopped To Get Some Fuel Treatment Because I Still Thought I Was Having Fuel Problems. At This Point The Truck Began To Act As If The Transmission Was In Neutral, Then The Transmission Would Grab And Jar The Truck Violently. At This Time I Was In Heavy Traffic And Nearly Hit. I Barely Got The Truck To My Mechanic. Further Inspection By My Mechanic Showed Antifreeze In The Transmission. I Had To Have The Transmission Totally Rebuilt And Replaced The Radiator, At A Cost Of About $4,000. About A Year Prior I Had The Transmission Flushed, Replaced Filter And Fluid As Preventative Maintenance. The Truck Has Been Maintained Properly Because I Planned To Keep The Truck For Long Term. My Truck Is Past The Warranty So Total Cost Is Incurred By Me. *tr

After Buying The Truck From A Dealership, I Was Driving Home. I Got About 5 Miles From The Dealership When The Vehicle Started Shaking. I Took It To A nissan Dealership To Who Confirmed What I Was Afraid Of. There Was Coolant In The Transmission Fluid. We Submitted It To The Warranty Company That I Had Purchased A Warranty From When I Bought The Truck Only To Find Out That Since The Transmission Failure Was Due To An Uncovered Part(oil Cooler) They Would Not Honor The Warranty. After Doing More Research On The Problem And Seeing As Many Claims Of This Issue How Has nissan Not Recalled The Transmission? It Is Obvious That This Normally Does Not Normally Happen Until After The Extended Warranty Ends. Like Everyone Else I Am Looking At A $6000+ Repair Bill, And Until I Can Come Up With That Money I Have To Look Outside At My $12,000 Lawn Ornament… *tr

After Accelerating Up To 50mph I Let Up Off Of The Gas And Then The Transmission Kicked In Again And Caused Me To Go Lunge Forward. I Thought That I Had Been Rear Ended But There Was No One Behind Me And Obviously No Damage To My Vehicle. It Felt As If I Had A Standard And Had Revved Up The Engine And Popped The Clutch. This Is Very Unsafe Especially If I Had Been An Inexperienced Driver. nissan Had A Class Action Lawsuit Out For This But It Only Covered Up To 100,000 Miles, Although They Knew About This Being A Manufacturer’s Defect. I Took This To The nissan Dealer And Had To Pay Them $119 To Diagnose The Problem And Tell Me That It Would Cost Me $5600.00 Plus Tax. I Don’t Have This To Pay On A Manufacturer’s Defect That Causes A Safety Hazard. I Hope No One Is Killed Before nissan Is Made To Fix This Problem.

When The Car Had About 60 Thousand Miles I Went To The Dealership Because I Felt Like There Was Something Wrong In The Way Car Started To Drive. I Asked For Paper Work Of The Inspection But Was Not Provided Instead Got The Estimate Of Things That Were Not Important At That Time Had Noting To Do With The Issue I Was Having With The Car. After A While I Had To Use That Vehicle My Only Car,it Start Slipping On The Gears. Car Had About 98 Thousand On It!! And Little After That Transmission Went!! I Have Taken The Car To Norwich Dealership For Answers. When They Have Told Me Is Not Covered By My Warranty Because Car Had At That Time Over A 100,000 Miles (103,000 Miles). I Bought The Car From nissan Dealership Car Was Display Model And Had 7 Thousand Miles On It When I Got It. Dealership Stated That’s A New Car And This 7 Thousand Miles Wont Count To The Warranty Major Selling Point Price Was Lower!!! When I Told Them About It They Said Its Over The Warranty And They Cant Do Anything Unless I Pay My Self. I Have Received A Letter From nissan About Class Action Unfortunately It Doesn’t Help Me Because My Car Has More That 100 Thousand Miles. So I Have A Car Which Has Been Paid Of And It Just Sits On The Driveway Because Its Broke And I Don’t Have $3000 To Just Go And Fix It And I Don’t Think I Should Since They New What Was The Problem Since The Beginning!!! *tr

Driving Home From Post Office In August 2010 Truck Would Not Exceed 35 Mph And Started To Shake Intensely. I Got It Towed To The Dealer Who Diagnosed $9500 To Fix, I Was Over Mileage By About 1500 Miles So All Out Of Pocket. I Parked It Immediately Due To Lack Of Funds, Much Due To A $565 Payment For A $30k New Truck For 5plus Years. nissan North America Denied Me Any Assistance, And Was Actually More Rude Than The Have The Least Bit Of Empathy While I Was Told I Did Reach The Top Person Who Was The Final Say. Many Months Passed And I Replaced The Radiator And Other Things, So It Appeared As I Saved The Trans From Harm By Parking It But Now At 98000 Miles The Service Engine Light Is On Coding An At Brake Issue While The Tranny Is Getting Jumpy And Sluggish Again. Quick Search Returns A Big Expense And Cross Contamination Most Likely Did Occur And Can End Up Costing Me Well Over $40000 In The Long Run For A Midsize Truck That I Have Owned And Took Good Care Of Since New And I Cant Even Get Rid Of It Now Except For Losing Even More Money…very Unhappy As An Owner Of 4 nissans In My Time I Really Expected A Quality Product, Now I Worry About When It Could Go, As I Was Recently Laid Off I Don’t Have The Money For Repairs Or Another Car. *tr

The First Week Of November 2013 While Driving At Approximately 50-60 Mph, I Would Intermittently Experience Shuddering Vibrations Like The Ones You Feel When You Drive Through Those Highway Strips. I Did Not Pay Much Attention To Eat Thinking It Probably Was A Minor Problem With The Tires. 3rd Week Of November The Truck Started Slipping. I Went Online To Find Out What Causes The Slip And There It Was. Hundreds Of Not Just 2005 nissan frontier Owners But Also Xterra’s And Pathfinder Owners From 2005-2010 Having The Same Problem.internet Searches Came Out That At A Certain Point In The Life Of The Vehicle At Average About 90-100t Miles, Radiator Coolant Mixes With The Transmission Fluid Due A Crack Inside The Radiator, And The Transmission Becomes Contaminated And Eventually Fails. After Finding Out The Symptoms Of Possible Contamination I Examined My Truck’s Radiator And Transmission And Found Out That Indeed Transmission Oil And Coolant Had Mixed. I Immediately Replaced The Radiator And Flushed The Transmission Thinking That This Could Still Save The Transmission. A Week Ago While At A Stop, With The Truck On Drive And Right Foot On The Brake Pedal, I Heard A Big Bang Around The Transmission Area And Felt A Violent Shake And Then The Truck Jerked Forward And I Almost Hit The Car In Front Of Me. I Was Able To Bring The Car Home.i Cannot Use The Truck Now Out Of Fear That The Transmission Will Suddenly Fail While I’m Driving In The Freeway And Cause Or Be In An Accident. Many Owners Have Reported That When Their Transmissions Failed, Their Vehicles Suddenly Lost power In The Middle Of The Highway And Almost Got Into An Accident. The Transmission Started Jerking Very Bad When It Hit 1700 Rpm Range While Driving, So I Slowed Down…scared. This Issues Is With A 2005 nissan frontier Le. Shuddering At Approximately 40-45 Mph (seems To Be While Shifting) And Sometimes Between 80-85 Mph. The Sound And Feel Of This Shuddering Is Very Similar To Driving Over Highway Hazard Speed Bumps. I Initially Thought That Road Work Had Been Done In Certain Areas And Didn’t Realize The Effect Was Emanating From My Truck. Loss Of Horse power And Miles Per Gallon Are Also A Symptom Of This Issue. Some Jerking Movements In The Lower Ranges Of Shifting. During The Shuddering It Feels As Though The Tranny Is Trying To Catch The Next Gear. If I Accelerate Or Decelerate Passed The Above Ranges The Shuddering Subsides Till The Next Time I Cross Those Ranges. This Description Is Of The Final Symptoms At Their Very Worst For My Individual Experience, Leading Up To This Points Has Been Gradual Signs Of The Same Issues Beginning At The 50k-60k Mileage Ranges. Even Though, To Date, nissan Corporate Has Known Of This Defect Their Dealerships/service Depts Seemed To Be Completely Unaware Of The Issue Till I Was Well Passed The Extended Warranty (class Action Lawsuit Imposed). At That Point They Became Very Informative Of The Problem And Its Symptoms. On Several Occasions (months If Not Yrs Ago) I Had Mentioned These Symptoms And Was Told Fluids Were Checked And Ok’d By Techs And Service Reps, But Reading Into The Issue Now I Have Learned It Is Very Easy To Spot If You Truly Do Know What You Are Looking For Or Actually Check The Fluids As I Suspect They Never Did. *tr

Now 9000 Miles After nissan Told Me I Was Good, I Have An Issue Where The Transmission Fluid Is Contaminated With Coolant And Vice Versa. nissan Says This Is A Small Percentage Of Vehicles. This Will Occur With All Vehicles With The Defective Radiator. The Cost Of Repair Is Ruining Peoples Lives And Is A Safety Issue With Seizing Of Transmissions While Driving. Please Address This Nhtsa. *tr

I Was Driving Along On A Major Interstate At 65 Mph When My Engine Was Revving Up To About 3500 Or 4000 Rpm But My Speed Was Dropping. I Pulled Over To The Right Hand Side Of The Road, Stopped And Turned The Vehicle Off. Had I Not Been In The Right Lane Of The Major Interstate When Traffic Was Very Light, I Could Have Had A Major Accident. Everything Seemed Normal Except The Low Coolant Level In The Reservoir Bottle. There Did Not Appear To Be Any Problems With The Engine So Then I Placed The Truck Into Drive And Moved The Vehicle Forward. As The Vehicle Picked Up Speed And At About The 35 To 40 Mph The Truck Engine Would Rev Up But The Transmission Was Slipping And Not Allowing The Truck To Move Any Faster. When I Took The Screw Off The Transmission Dipstick To See That Fluid Level Was Too High For The Proper Level In The Automatic Transmission. Also, I Noticed That The Fluid Had A Greyish Milky Appearance Which Is A Clear Indication Of Contamination With A Water Based Material Such As Engine Coolant.i Find The Fact nissan Clearly Knew That Was A Problem And Failed To Notify Me As The Original Owner Of The Vehicle Annoying. They Would Rather Pay To Have Vehicle Repaired After The Fact Than Take Care Of A Potential Safety Problem Before It Occurs. This Is Extremely Troublesome When A Manufacturer Places Profits And The Bottom Line Ahead Of Customer Safety. Upon Further Research, I Have Learned That I Could Have Replaced The Faulty Radiator With Another Product From Koyorad For About $120 Retail And Prevented This Problem. So For A Couple Hundred Dollars, nissan Is Willing To Jeopardize My Safety And All Other nissan Owners Safety. As The National Safety Agency, I Implore You Act Immediately And Order A Recall On These nissan Vehicles Before People Get Hurt. It Is Your Duty To Protect The People Of The Nation From Safety Issues When Manufacturers Fail To Do So. *tr

I Was At A Stop Light , Waiting For Light To Change. As Light Changed Applied Pressure To Gas Pedal But The Vehicle Would Not Move The Engine Would Just Rev Up, Finally Moved Slowly. I Drove It Like That For Couple Blocks Then I Parked For An Hour Or So, After That I Was Able To Get Home Without A Problem. I Reserched Online About It And Found Out That It Is A Common And Known Issue Of Cooland Mixing With Transmision Fluid That Ruins The Transmision Due To A Defect On The Radiator. Took It To The Dealer And They Confirmed That The Transmision Need It To Be Replaced As Well As The Radiator Which It Would Cost Over $8,000. The Extended Warranty (8years/80,000miles) Was Already Expired For 8 Months With Only 73,800 Miles On The Truck, So I Had To Pay $2,500 Copay Which I Found It Outrageous For A Known Factory Defect. At Least They Should Let Owners Of These Vehicles Known That This Could Happend To Their Cars. *tr

At The Approximate Speed Of 5 To 8 Mph, And Accelerating, The “service Engine Soon” Signal Light Up. Immediately I Had To Turn 5000 Rpms To Reach A Speed Of 20 Mph. I Drove The Vehicle Approximately 5 Miles To Home And Parked It Their. Contacted My Mechanic And Took The Vehicle To His Garage The Next Morning For A Total Of 8 Miles In Addition To The 5 For A Total Of 13 Miles Driven While In Warning. Upon Completion Of A Diagnostics Check, It Was Discovered That There Had Been A Transmission Radiator Valve Failure. This Valve Fails To Operate, And Does Not Allow Coolant And Lubrication Of The Transmission To Continue. The Valve Is Connected To The Transmission Radiator, Located Within The Confines Of The Cooling Radiator. The Radiator Was Replaced, And Upon Test Drive It Was Discovered That The Transmission Was Deficient Or Had Burned Up 3rd And 4th Gears. The Totality Of The Repairs To Include Replacement Of A Transmission, Radiator, Fluids And Labor Was In Excess Of $4,000.00. A Vehicle With Less Than 130,000 Miles Of Highway Use, With All Maintenance Performed As Prescribed Within The Owners Manual, Service Recommendations Should Not Have Failed. A Single Valve Is/ Was The Responsible Culprit. I Have Previously Owned A Ford Ranger, Took Care Of It As I Have The frontier, And Had In Excess Of 200,000 Miles On The Ranger Upon Trading It In. I Never Replaced A Transmission In My Life On Any Vehicle. nissan Needs To Acknowledge The Issue At Hand And Take The Appropriate Corrective Action, Respect The Customers That Have Respected You Over The Years. *tr

I Was At A Stop Light And When It Turned Green My Truck Felt Like It Was Stuck In Neutral And Wouldn’t Get Into Gear. With Hesitation, It Finally Jumped Into Gear But Was Very Sluggish With Hardly Any power. It Was Quite Dangerous With A Line Of Vehicles Behind Me I Thought I Was Going To Get Rear-ended. Thankfully I Was Only 2 Minutes From My Office Where I Was Able To Pull In The Parking Lot And Unload My Two Children And Call My Wife To Pick Us Up. I Had To Have My Car Sit There Over The Weekend Because I Didn’t Feel Safe Driving It. On The Following Monday I Had It Towed To A Transmission Repair Shop Where They Diagnosed It As A Cracked Radiator Head With Coolant Leaking Into The Transmission Causing This Failure. I Then Had It Towed Again To The nissan Dealership Where They Diagnosed It And Confirmed The First Diagnosis. They Said Unfortunately I Was Over The Mileage And To Call The National nissan Dealership And Petition For Assistance. After Looking Up All The Information I Find It Discerning That nissan Hasn’t Done The Right Thing And Recalled This To Make It Right. *tr

I Am Very Lucky I 2 As Not Hit By Traffic. Had The Truck Towed To Transmission Shop $4700 Later Was Told It Was Radiator Fluid In The Transmission. This I Later Researched And Is A Common Problem In These Vehicles. nissan Is Fully Aware And Does Nothing About It. It’s Disgraceful To The Name nissan Not To Stand Behind Tour Product. I Have Own 5 nissan ‘ S And 3 Of Them frontiers. These Trucks Have Always Had The Reputation To Run Many Many Miles Without Issues. I Found Out A Faulty Engineered Control Valve Assembly Caused Radiator And Transmission Failure In My Vehicle. It Happened Less Then A Month Outside & 7000 Mi Over The Extended Warranty. Extension For The Warranty To 80,000 Was Put In Place For A Class Action Law Suit For This Item Back In 2010. In 2010 My Vehicle Did Not Even Have 50,000 So None Of This Applied To Me! Nor Did nissan Do The Right Thing And Recall My Truck Prior Knowing This Part Fails After 80000! All The People This Happens To After This Law Suit Went Down Are Out Of Luck Because Too Much Time Has Passed. So, I As A Consumer Who Takes Care Of Their Vehicle And Keeps Low Miles, Has To Pay Big Money To Fix This Problem! I Called nissan Headquarters To Do The Right Thing. They Said Because Of The Judgment Of The Class Action Law Suit, They Can Not Honor My Request To Do The Right Thing. I Have To Pay $2500 To Fix My Truck! I Asked If I Had To Sue Independently And Take To Twitter To Help My Cause? The Gal On The Other End Of The Phone (highest Person Up The Chain I Could Reach) Said; “yes Mam, I’m Sorry Mam, But I Guess That’s What You Have To Do. My Hands Are Tied By This Judgment I Can Do Nothing For You”! I Feel Completely Ripped Off And Deceived By nissan!!! Is There A Possibility You Can Come To My Aid And Direct Me How I May Get This Covered? This Has Become A Major Hardship! *tr

While Getting On The Freeway, I Accelerated To Merge With Traffic But Was Unable To Gain Speed So I Got Off On The First Exit Ramp. Had Plenty Of Engine power But Lost Torque. First Thought, Must Be The Transmission Slipping. Got Home And Checked The Transmission Oil Level And It Was Fine, The Oil Did Not Look Like Transmission Oil, It Was Discolored And Had A Different Feel To It. Was Able To Get The Truck To Dealer And Was Told It Needed A Radiator And Transmission. Coolant Had Leaked Into The Transmission. Did My Research And Found There Have Been Many Complaints About This Problem. As For The Warranty,by Which I Still Have To Pay Over $2500, I Believe nissan Should Have Had A Recall On The 05 frontier, Pathfinder, And Payed For The Whole Repair For Their Use Of What I Call Defective Parts. If Transmission In These Trucks Are Not Fixed Then Someone Is Going To Have An Accident Due To It. I Am Lucky I Didnt Have One Thank God For That We Are Safe. My Transmission On My 2005 nissan frontier Completely Failed And Left Me Stranded On The Interstate Highway. After Towing It And A Little Research I Found Out That This Was A Problem That nissan Was Well Aware Of And Neglected To Notify Me Or Do Anything About. The Transmission Cooler Had Cracked Leaking Engine Coolant Into The Transmission. I Learned That They Extended The Warranty To 90,000 Miles With A $3000 Dollar Deductible Which Is Laughable, Considering That This Was A Problem That Is Going To Cost About That To Fix On My Own. nissan States On Their Website That They Extended The Warranty For Customer Satisfaction, In Reality They Got Sued And That Was The Settlement. nissan Should Have Recalled These Trucks Years Ago Like A Morally Responsible Company Would Have And I Would Not Have To Be Running Up Credit Card Debt To Fix It Now.

On My Truck I Experienced A Sudden Loss In power And Throttle Response While Driving Without Warning, As The Transmission Failed To Shift Gears Properly. After Spending $100 For A Diagnostic From A Mechanic It Was Found That My Transmission Cooler Reservoir Is Leaking In My Radiator And Caused Cross Contamination Between My Antifreeze And Atf. The Antifreeze Is Getting Into My Transmission And Boiling Once The Transmission Reaches Operating Temperatures. The Antifreeze Vapor Is Then Causing The Transmission Clutches And Bands To Not Be Able To Engage Correctly, And Therefore Not Being Able To Shift Up And Down Through The Gears Properly. I Just About Got Hit Trying To Turn Left Out Onto The Road In Front Of Cross Traffic. I Avoided An Accident, But This Happened With No Warning. This Fix Is Going To Cost Me Anywhere From $500 To $5,000 To Fix Depending On The Extent Of The Damage The Antifreeze In My Transmission Caused. I Just Read That A Few Years Ago nissan Extended The Warranty Due To This, And I Am Past That Point, But This Is Still Unacceptable At Only 102,000 Miles. nissan Should Have Recalled This And Fixed It When It Was Just A Couple Hundred Dollars For A New Radiator Years Ago. Lastly, My Truck Without Issues Was Worth Nearly $8k In Its Condition, Now I⿿ll Have Trouble Getting A Dealer To Pay Anything In Trade-in Value If I Choose To Not Fix The Truck.

While Driving At Speeds Of Approximately 40 Mph The Truck Made A Sound As Though It Was Driving Over Rumble Strips And It Feels As Though The Transmission Is Slipping Or About To Fail. This Will Last 5 To 10 Seconds And Then It Will Seem Normal, And Then After A Short While The Sound And Slippage Will Again Occur.
